The Signature Process
Each work begins on the lathe, where Rodney establishes the outer form. Before the interior is complete, he deliberately stops turning and continues by hand using custom tools and techniques developed over more than 25 years.

Select & Turn
A carefully selected log is mounted on the lathe, where Rodney establishes its balance, scale and initial form.

Hand Sculpt
Rodney leaves the lathe before the interior is complete, continuing by hand with tools and techniques refined over 25 years.

Refine the Form
Rodney refines each interior, edge and opening in response to the wood, allowing its natural character to guide the final sculptural form.
Letting the material lead.
Rodney begins with the wood as it is: its grain, root movement, openings and natural edge. Turning provides balance and structure; hand sculpting makes room for the irregular character that cannot be repeated.
